What is Dredging?
River dredging Dredging is a type of excavation where materials are recovered from beneath the surface of a body of water for sediment disposal or to use the sediments in products such as concrete mixtures. The type of equipment need to dredge an area depends on the purpose of the dredging. Why is dredging important?

Beaches bring in millions of dollars to the tourism industry and often these areas need to be maintained and nourished after natural disasters, especially when the beaches are near developed communities. Wetland and marshes are decreasing rapidly due to haphazard industrial development and dredging helps to restore these vital areas of our environment. Cargo ports used for trade with other countries need to remain clear of debris so boats can move through easily and goods can be imported and exported without interruption or delay.
